Okay I just realized how creepy the subject sounds but it's what we do. Do people realize that you can tell when someone looks through the peephole? I don't think everyone realizes this.. It's super helpful for us because when we see them coming we try to look as welcoming as possible and sometimes it even works.
An update on a few things. First, remember how a few weeks ago I mentioned the discovery of branch council, how we don't have the invite, and not to worry because it will soon change? You'll never guess who attended branch council yesterday... these Hermanas! Long story short, we barely scraped an invite that probably wasn't even an invite but we were there, with big smiles, and even five minutes early. Second, we did it! We sang a Child's Prayer! It hasn't made its debut quite yet but on our way to dinner one night I told Hna we were going to sing it until we did it three times in a row without me messing it up. Success!
Happy day because Patty is FINALLY back from Mexico. Oh my I love her so so so much. She is great. Big news with her, she has been keeping the word of wisdom for about a month (as far as we know)! We are working on helping her realize the importance of church attendance and setting a realistic date with her. We know she's ready, she just needs to realize that she is!
Two more things:
1. A funny but not so funny story about our car
2. A valuable takeaway from this week
If you're thinking you're just going to read #1, I encourage you to stick around for #2
1. We were driving home from an appointment and all of a sudden our engine turned off but the car thought it was still on. It wouldn't turn on or off so we didn't know what to do. Anyway we had a member with us too and her husband called and asked if there was gas in the car. We were like yes Hermano... We called the vehicle coordinator and he told us to call the APs to come get us. Then we were like okay we should pray (should've done this first...) So the zone leaders live a lot closer so they called us. They were just laughing and trying to ask us where our car was in Spanish hahah. So they show up and I am messing around with the key and the Elders were messing with the break and steering wheel and somehow it started! The Elders tried to take credit but I know it was 50% Heavenly Father 26% us and 24% the Elders.. (: Then the member that was with us and her husband both decided to talk about our broken down but not really broken down car in testimony meeting on Sunday so now we're famous for not knowing how to start our car...

2. I learned an important lesson this week. I'll start off with the moral of the story to mix it up. We do everything in our power to share the gospel with others but our efforts will never be enough. So when we've done all we can, the Lord puts someone so obviously in our path that we can help. Now for the story part. On Wednesday, we were on exchanges so I went to Crystal Lake with Sister Benson. Okay short side note: Sister Benson is incredible. She is such an amazing missionary. She is the kind of person that makes you want to be a better person in every way. Trust me if you met her, you would give up all your bad habits just to be like her. I went to her area so it was english work. It was basically a finding day and no one really listened to us all day. At the end of the night we went to visit someone who they had talked to before and turns out that they don't even live there anymore and the person that does, wasn't interested. On our way out we saw this lady with two dogs so we yelled "hello" as she was walking away. She stopped and talked to us outside her place and wow she was amazing. She called herself a believer and talked about how she believes in signs from God. We shared a scripture in the Book of Mormon and she was so excited about it. She asked us where she should go to get one and when we handed it to her for free she was so excited. She had a lot going on and recognized that meeting us was not a coincidence. I have learned that nothing is a coincidence. God works in mysterious ways. I love how he uses others to answer prayers and give comfort to others. I want to invite you all to look out for a way to serve someone this week! I know that God has a plan for each of us and He needs us to be ready and willing to follow that plan!
I hope you all have a great week! Thanks for all the support! I know there's someone out there for you to serve so get to it! (:
Quote of the week: (two this week)
"If you don't have fun on your mission, you're not going to have a fun mission." -Sister Benson
"Wow I've had so many quesadillas in the past two days" -Hermana Meredith
