How is everyone doing? The weather looks nice over in the great state of Utah. Over here it is slowly freezing over. It snowed this week which was exciting! First snow is always so much fun, we even found some hot chocolate in our cupboard and made it (we aren't sure how old it is).
We finally got in with Jesus! It has been a while since we've been able to teach him so we're excited to help him continue learning and growing in the gospel. Funny story along with his lesson though. I went with a member that we live with her name is Charlotte and she served in Peru so sometimes she comes with us to our lessons. Hermana Meredith was resting because she has been sick so it was me, Charlotte, then two members of the Elder's Quorum Presidency. We were teaching about the Priesthood so that he can prepare to receive it. The Elders Quorum prepared a lesson so we let them teach and they were acting like he already has the Aaronic Priesthood and I just assumed they knew what they were talking about. So when I got home I told Hna there was a plot twist... he already has the priesthood. We were so confused thinking we would already know that so the next day at church we asked our branch President. Turns out he doesn't actually have the Priesthood so we are going to keep working with him. We're also going to work on our communication with the Priesthood authority.
Also we were able to go to our ward trunk-or-treat which was combined with the English ward. Our costumes were such a hit (see picture below). Everyone loved them and thought they were hilarious but really what else would missionaries be? It was great too because we had a lot of investigators show up and tons of less actives! Of course we wish they would come to church, but having them in the church building with members was awesome enough. One investigator in particular showed up who we have had a hard time meeting with. The cool thing is that last minute we just decided to invite everyone we could think of and he barely made the cut. It made me realize that invitations are so important. How do we expect people to do anything without knowing what to do?
We had an awesome lesson with Jorge on Thursday. We brought two members with us and one of them asked Jorge what his spiritual journey has been in his life. He talked about his time in prison and how it was just him and a bible. He recognized this is the only way God could grab his attention. He also met a Mormon in prison who will never know the tremendous impact he had on him. These things and along with a lot of other experiences has brought him closer to Christ. It made me think of my own "spiritual journey." There are many experiences that have brought me to be here in Minnesota serving the Lord. I know that I couldn't have done it and it wouldn't have been the same without the help from Heavenly Father, angels, family, and friends (some of my family and friends are the angels). I am so thankful for everything that happened to bring me to where I am now and I know it was the Lord's hand that guided me along the way. What's your spiritual journey? What has brought you to where you are now? Are you where you want to be?
Just some questions to consider. Sorry for the short email, no time this week! I love you all.
