we can do hard things

SELFIE with Elder Stacy
Hola amigos!

Somehow it's already November... we won't talk about that though.. Things are great over here as always! North Minne really is the promised land.

Not too much to update you all on the past week (suertudos) but I'll give you what I got.

Ricardo and Lupe are doing great. Ricardo sharing the gospel with Lupe has really helped him strengthen his own testimony. On Saturday when we were leaving their place he was just smiling telling us about how excited he was to go to "la church" the next day. Lupe is doing great as well. He has a few things to work through so prayers would be verrryyy appreciated! He has so much faith though and he is ready and willing to follow Christ.

Okay I just remembered a huge miracle we had. We have a friend named Gladys. All her family members are members of the church but she lived in a different city when they all joined. She reads in the Book of Mormon and knows it's true but previously she has said that in order formher to be baptized her mom needs to gain four pounds. Her mom is 94 and she really just wants her to live forever and she thinks her gaining weight will do the trick. We decided to give them a little break and when we went back last week on exchanges I felt like we needed to invite her to be baptized but a little differently. Basically I asked her and said we don't want her answer right now but that we wanted her to pray about it and think about it this week. When we went back this week we asked her how it went. She said she has been studying and searching and she is waiting with faith fornher answer. She knows the time tomdecide is coming soon. She said nothing about her mom gaining weight and she was reading all these scriptures that had helped her this week. It was a hufe miracle tp see her progress like that and we def didn't expdct it walking in to the appointment!

The most spiritual part of this week was hands down MLC on Friday. I always walk out of there with a new energy to be better. Elder Stacy was there again and he always speaks with such power and love. We talked a lot about the story of Nephi and how he was commanded to go get the plates. He had no idea how he was going to do that but he just did it because of the incredible faith that he had. I love verse 5 in 1 Nephi 3 that says,

"And now, behold thy brothers murmur, saying it is a hard thing which I have required of them; but behold I have not required it of them, but it is a commandment of the Lord."

Sometimes the Lord commands us to do hard things but He will always prepare a way. One of the Sisters made a comment and she said that the true miracle was when they actually took action, they got up and they went tomget the plates. It's so true. Faith leads to action and when we have that faith to follow him, we will do whatever he asks of us, no matter how hard it is!
