Hola a todos!
This week was ammaaazzinggggg. I would even go as far to say one of my favorite weeks of the mission.
I don't even know where to begin. Wow the Lord really blessed us this week for all our consistent hard work and our efforts stuck in the apartment last week.
We recieved five referrals, set a fecha, found two new investigators (in one day), had a cute family come to church for the first time, and Angie got baptized!
Tuesday I hit 9 months which I don't want to talk about, it's a little upsetting. But my hermanas kept saying we need to do something to celebrate, this is a big accomplishment! Then a referral came through of the family of the groom at a church wedding. So I was like, let's celebrate by visiting this reference. We went by and she was like oh my father is interested and he isnt here right now either. What did we say? "Can we share a message with you?"
She turned out to be amazing and so ready to hear what we have to say. Tuesday was such a good day it was the best possible way to celebrate being a missionary, doing some bomb missionary work.
Interesting experience from the week. We got a text from our ward mission leader saying an hno in our ward has a friend who wants a Book of Mormon. So we called him and he told us he is never home but we can come visit him in his office if we want. Why not right? We go to the address and turns out he's a tax attorney. Here we are sitting in his office just teaching the restoration. People kept coming in and he kept saying. "Un momentito, aquí estoy con los ángeles de Dios."
Yet another MIRACLE on Sunday. We have been struggling with church attendance. Last week we invited 22 people and no one showed up. We have a couple investigators that come but they can't make it for first hour, so that's been hard. We have been working with so many people with so much potential and even ganas to come to church but there are always many obstacles. This week we had a lot of people say that they were going to come instead of just "try" to come, we had a lot of faith from that. Well we did all we could and genuinely invited and Sunday an hour before church rolled around and it didn't look like anyone was coming. Until 5 minutes before church we got a text saying, "hi we are coming but we will arrive 5 minutes late." Ahhhhhhhh we squealed for joy. My cute Hermana Hudman has never had anyone to church and Hna Turner has been working with this family. I've never seen them both happier. Moments like these make everything worth it.
I was so blessed to go HOME to Lakeville on Saturday for Angie's baptism. She was GLOWING. It was amazing to see her progress. She was completely prepared before we even met her but she was hesitant to set a date. But with a whole lot of love and a little persistence she chose to follow Christ and enter the waters of baptism all by herself.
I've learned a whole lot about agency and what a great gift it is. It used to frustrate me a lot when people wouldn't accept our message or weren't keeping their word. Why are they not accepting the greatest thing we could offer them? How can they be so quick to reject us? Why won't they give us a chance? Why are you not keeping commitments? Why are you denying blessings that would bring you so much joy? I am able to look at agency in a whole new light. We most definitely can't force anyone to choose what we want them to do. That's not how agency works. BUT we can invite, invite, invite. We can control our attitude and we can be thankful for the rejection we face because it's one step closer to those that are prepared. We can control our effort by continuing to work even when it gets hard.
I love this scripture found in 2 Nephi 2:27, "Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself."
It is our choice to choose to be happy through following Christ. So choose Him.
I love you all!
